A Portable impulse radar has been tested to locate different type of targets in different types of soils. The radar consists of a control unit and an antenna unit. Different antennas for different purposed can be used.
Several different types of targets were selected for testing. The targets included both metallic and non-metallic objects, also some actual mines were measured. The maximum dimension of the objects varied from few centimeters to about 50 centimeters. The test were performed indoors in air and in a sandbox and outdoors in different types of ground, both in summer and in winter.
The measurements show that the potentials of finding objects with an ImRa depends very much on the background material. In homogenius material, for example in air, in snow or in dry sand, even small objects can be located. Outdoors it is difficult to distinguish between the target and many variations in background, such as vegetation, stones, wood particles and so on. It is also possible to see if a homogeneous layer has been disturbed in some are, for example if a road has been disturbed by digging, even if there is no objects buried underneath the surface. With different methods it will be possible to increase the probability to find the targets, for example by using several antennas and comparing the results.
The measurement show, that in air and in smooth dry sand all objects could be detected. The signal intensity depends on the target size and on the dielectric constant difference according to the theory. The outdoor's measurements show, that the detection probability depends on the ground type and on the target size.

When assessing moisture problems in existing buildings, it is critical to map out the source of moisture absorption so that the real causes of the moisture absorption can be found.
With Imra you can check and locate the areas that are damaged or wet without breaking the surface. You can measure walls both outdoors and indoors, floors etc. surfaces and monitor the screen for variations in image instantly while measuring.
The first image (1) shows a density image measured from the outside of a brickwall. You can see the moist defected area with accuracy of one centimeter.
The second image (2) shows similar image from the same wall few weeks later, after the damaged moist area has dried out.

In Finland on town houses the waste water have to be collected to the septic tank.The septic tank have to be emptyed about once a year.
With Peat Probe, the spetic level of the tank can be measured. With the measurements it can be seen that there is more solid waste on the bottom of the tank. First 10cm is waste that floats, next 20cm is mostly liquid and the last part 140cm-180cm is more solid stuff because the moisture level is much lower.
